My Story

Hello! My name is Seth Mbhele. I am a Johannesburg based User Experience Designer that uses Design Thinking to craft delightful and engaging digital products. I tell stories and solve problems for startups, organizations and non-profits by helping them in creating digital products that matter; that put users at the centre of their universe. I am currently UX Lead over at Digital Voodoo.

I offer 21 years of professional experience where I have been crafting and executing consumer-centric experiences in the retail hospitality and creative digital fields.

I founded a Digital Strategy and User Experience Consultancy, Digital Voodoo, 10 years ago, and through this vehicle have been able to engage with a wide variety of global clients, from non-profit to financial services to blue chips and startups. Being Founder and UX Lead, I am responsible for the day to day running, stakeholder management, strategy and user experience design. I lead a multi-disciplinary team crafting delightful user experiences, not only online but also at various consumer touch-points through our omni-channel approach to solution development. I am comfortable mentoring junior designers, strategists and developers alike and am open to learning from those with different experiences and approaches to mine. My personal design style can be described as functional Afro-minimalist and I am able to sketch concepts visually and also create professionally designed visual artifacts.

I am a natural, visual storyteller with a strong understanding of technology and human-centred design with a flexible and creative approach to problem solving. From a planning and research perspective; I am comfortable and confident in a variety of ethnographic research methodologies for uncovering market and user insights, whilst also possessing the skills to translate these insights into clear goal-driven journey maps and early stage prototyping and user testing. My background is both technical and creative, and this gives me the ability to lead, contribute and collaborate across disciplines.

I have excellent project management, facilitation, presentation and communication skills. I understand my role within the team and can play it accordingly whether it is to lead, mentor, collaborate or support.
